Cop Killer Says He Was Battered By Police During His Arrest. Here's The Footage.
Accused cop killer Markeith Loyd looked visibly battered during his recent court appearance. Now, the Orlando Police Department released footage from his arrest that shows a police officer kicking him. Loyd was the subject of an arduous nine-day manhunt after he was accused of fatally shooting ex-girlfriend Sade Dixon on December 13th, and then slaying Orlando police Lt. Debra Clayton when she tried to take him into custody at a Walmart on January 9. His arrest was caught on a helicopter video that shows Loyd complying with police orders by crawling on his stomach through the yard toward cops. When Loyd finally reaches them, one of the officers catches him off guard with a kick, at which point the helicopter camera is turned away. Orlando Police Chief John Mina claimed during a press conference that officers were concerned that Loyd was hiding something under his body, which is why the cop kicked him. Sure enough, Mina added, arresting officers found large bag of ammunition beneath him and discovered that he had already gotten rid of two firearms, one of which had a 100-round capacity. Mina also noted Loyds extremely violent criminal history and expressed hope that the public would not rush to judgment in relation to his arrest. He faces a slew of charges in relation to the slayings, including two counts of first degree murder and unlawful killing of an unborn child.
